Of The Coast is a Pop Punk band from Tupelo,Mississippi that formed in 2011. They have an ep out "pack your bags" you should go check it out!. I got the pleasure to interview them. check them out on facebook! http://www.facebook.com/ofthecoastband/info
TTEC:I don't really know that much about the scene down in mississippi , how is it?
Of The Coast:Mississippi's "scene" has it's ups and downs. In our experience, I'd say we have the biggest response farther off, rather than closer to home. Don't get me wrong, we've had some great times playing at home, but we choose to treat it like any other tour date. That way people won't grow tired of us by considering us to be stuck in the "local loop" that they're accustomed to.
TTEC:How has the feedback been on the debut ep "pack your bags"?
Of The Coast: Unbelievable. Pack Your Bags was recorded at exactly this time last year, and we couldn't have asked for a better response. The EP scored us some pretty large dates, as well as some fantastic recognition. I think that those 5 songs were a great way for OTC to begin, and I think that the fans will continue to be pleased seeing as how our newer, upcoming material has maintained the same sound and energy, just with a little more thought and maturity.
TTEC: who are you're influences?
Of The Coast:Pretty much my biggest inspiration to pick up and play would definitely be the 90's alternative era. Third Eye Blind, Tal Bachman, Eve 6, Sister Hazel, Semisonic, Nine Days, etc. I feel like the artists of that time created the sound that is modern alternative/pop rock today. Of course my all time favorites Cartel, Foo Fighters, ATL, Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin, and so on, led me to write the way that I do.
TTEC: so I heard you guys have an upcoming tour, do you mind telling everyone who's on this tour with you guys?
Of The Coast:The
tour was just with one of our "friend bands" from Nashville, Tennessee
called "Sonsett." Really awesome dudes, and some great friends of ours.
Unfortunately, we had to recently drop most of the dates in order to
take care of some things to prepare for the recording of the new album.
We will be back on the road as soon as possible, and we deeply despised
the fact of us having to cancel the tour in December, but we just had to
stop and prepare for the future.
TTEC:any plans on new music in the near future?
Of The Coast: Actually, we are scheduled to be back in a studio this February under a new producer, as well as new management. We will be recording our new 7 song EP called the "Lessons Learned EP". Financially, we couldn't afford to do another tour in December, while saving money for the new record, so we all agreed that putting out the new music was most important for us, and our listeners. Also, we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to work in such a great new studio. It was definitely the right time to take our production in a new direction as well.
TTEC: anything else you guys want share with everyone?
Of The Coast:We only have a handful of dates booked before we leave in February to record, but if you are in the area, come hang out with us! Keep your eye out for the new material, videos, photos, etc. And thank you to everyone out there that continues to make this possible for us everyday.
