Well Planned Attack "There's I In Win" Review

Well, where do i start with this band ! Well Planned Attack burst onto the scene back in the summer of 2012, and they have solidified their place as an up and coming band in the seemingly ever growing Italian Pop Punk scene. If the guys keep on doing what they do, to the quality they have have done, I am more than certain these guys will be a big name in no time at all !.

I first heard about these guys whilst i was doing one of my daily searches through YouTube and i came across their lyric video for Won't Stand Down. These guys clearly know how to write energetic bouncy pop punk with all the styles that you can pick out from today's bands. The gang vocals, upbeat, and breakdowns. It's all there !. So when i heard they were releasing their debut EP as a physical CD as well as digital, this was music to my ears, as i am still a supporter of purchasing physical Cd's. I received it in the post earlier yesterday morning and after listening to it numerous times I came to the conclusion that they have so much potential to offer to their ever growing fan base. This is a band that you all need to keep a close eye on, big things to come from them I'm sure. So without further ado, let's get cracking !

We start of this EP with a delightful introductory song called You're Uglier Than Comic Sans (clearly a band that has a sense of humor !). The song itself is a short, upbeat piece which paves the way for what is to come. The thing with bands nowadays, they tend to write long intro tracks, which is all very well and good, but in my opinion a short burst of energy is what is needed to start things off. The feeling i get from this song is that it has been written from the perspective of an ending relationship, either a friendship or partnership I'm not sure. Lyrics such as "I think it's time now to blow the whistle on this" only justifies my opinions. The gang vocals also add to the catchy rhythm from the guitars and drums whilst the vocals compliment and tell the short "story" perfectly. A fitting start to an already superb debut EP.

Next up on the 5 track EP is I Feel Like Viktor Navorski. Now this track first came to life in the for of a music video. This song is ever so slightly mellower than it's predecessor, although still packs a punch. I think this song is about setting yourself free and getting out of a "hopeless place". In my opinion, this is one of the more meaningful songs out of the rest.

Now this is my personal favorite. After listening to the ep in full, it's clear that this is the most energetic song on it. It's one of those songs that, if played live, would get the whole crowd jumping and singing along. Whilst listening to this, i can clearly tell that the band draw upon Four Year Strong as one of their main influences. The song in question is There's I In Win. If This song was a person, it comes across to me as a person who is getting himself back up on his feet and getting on with life after being continually knocked down. Things will always get better as time goes on is this songs message.

Goodbye. For Good is next on this list, it also the deepest, most meaningful song on the ep. It talks about  being grateful for what you have, the lines "You wanted more, and forgot what you already owned" are clear examples of this. You would think that the songs with more deep meanings would be slower, more mellow, but this is not the case. They continue to keep everything bright and upbeat through the entire of this release. The tonality of the song during the chorus ads to the deep meaning whilst not loosing the energy that is evident through it.

And as we come to the last song, this is also the song that started Well Planned Attack off as a band. The song in question of course is Won't Stand Down. Everyone always says they save the best till last and they truly have saved one of the best till last. Certain aspects of this song i feel are about going out there and doing what you truly want to do "As long as you will be my goal, I'm not gonna loose this fucking game" just prove this perfectly. As with all the other songs on here, this one is nothing short of what makes an excellent, modern day pop punk song. The energy, the breakdowns, it's all there !!!!!

All the guys play their parts to perfection and as a result of this, we are left with a superb debut release that will tickle the taste buds of any budding pop punk fan.

This release is for fans who love Four Year Strong, Me Vs Hero, The Story So Far and many more.

The Italian Pop Punk scene is on the rise. I do believe we should all be keeping a close watch on them from now on !

If you would like to purchase a physical copy of their ep "There's I In Win", head on over to their Big Cartel page to get one for just 5 euro's !

Details on how you can purchase a digital copy can also be found on their facebook page. Whilst your there, give them a like and support this fantastic band. I've got a good feeling this band will be big one day !
