http://thistimeeasycore.blogspot.com/2013/02/interview-with-this-year-as-ghost.html
This Year As A Ghost is a Pop Punk band from Cincinnati, Ohio, that formed in 2011. They just released a new ep "Everything You Want Me to Be". Check them out here http://www.facebook.com/#!/TYAAG. I got the pleasure to interview Brian from TYAAG.
TTEC: Who are your influences?
TYAAG: This Year As A Ghost is very heavily influenced by bands like New Found Glory, City Lights, Hit The Lights, and Set Your Goals. If you're a big pop punk fan i'm sure you caught the Wonder Years reference in our name. Everyone in the band is a HUGE fan of TWY and their music. But as you can tell we didn't really go for that sound. We went for that heavy pop punk sound with all those catchy lyrics and melodies. We want to be stuck in your head alllll dayyyyy.
TTEC: How has the feedback been on the new cover song and the new ep "Everything You Want Me To Be"?
TYAAG: Everyone loves the cover of Allstar by Smashmouth that we did! As for the EP we get A LOT of great feedback. People really seem to connect with the songs and love the music. The EP really has that fast paced punk style but then throws in some sweet breakdowns and some pretty catchy melodies. A lot of people locally connect with one song in particular called "Stay Classy Cincinnati". In the song we talk about some landmarks from our hometown and how one of the most loved venues from where we live shut down. Everyone grew up going to shows there so it really hit home for a lot of people.
TTEC: What is your favorite and least favorite thing about being in a band?
TYAAG: Worst thing about being in a band: All the shit you get from people for being yourself. Not everyone is going to love your music and some people just can't wait for the opportunity to shut you down.
Best thing about being in a band: Meeting sooo many cool new people and musicians. We've made friends with the coolest people from playing all of our shows. Also connecting with people that feel so strongly about your songs as much as you do is pretty great. I've had people come up to me and tell me how much they understand our music and how much they relate. To myself i'm just an 18 year old highschool kid trying to make it in the music industry and to others i'm seen as a musician. One that people want to help and make my dreams come true.

TTEC:Are you guys on tour now? if so with who? if not do you have any coming up and with who?
TYAAG:We are currently not on tour. We're busy playing in the Northern KY/Cincinnati area and working our jobs to save up for a tour this summer though. We plan on hitting the open road in June and spreading our music to other cities. As for who we are going on tour with we are not sure but we have been talking to our buds in Another Untold Story about getting our summer tour set up together!
TTEC:Any music videos in the near future?
TYAAG: We plan on shooting a music video this Spring actually. As soon as it gets warm we're going to start filming. We plan on adding a bunch of clips with shots from our hometown in this video so hopefully all of our local following will be joining in on that and then maybe a video with live shots from our tour after that happens. All in all lots of exciting stuff!
TTEC: What are the plans for the spring and summer?
TYAAG: Like I said before Spring and Summer, shooting some music videos and TOUR TOUR TOUR. We are also currently working on some new music to be released as well. Whether it'll be a full album or another EP we're not sure of but it's on it's way!
TTEC:Anything else you want to share with everyone?
TYAAG: To anyone who hasn't listened to our music, check us out! To anyone who has and enjoys it, you rule. Make it out to show and come scream lyrics in my face. Nothing says I love you like going crazy and singing songs by This Year As A Ghost with your friends. Don't be afriad to head on over to our FB page and talk to us either. We're all cool guys and we get bored. Thank you so much for the support!
