Tell Your Friends Interview

Tell Your Friends collectively came together in the summer of 2011. After a small lineup change, they have secured their place as one of Liverpool's "must see" bands. In the time they have been together, they have racked up an impressive amount of shows. They have headlined one of Liverpool's music venue, the o2 academy for the release of their debut ep "They'll Never Take Us Alive" which is available to purchase at a very reasonable price of £5 or for an extra fiver, you get a tshirt and the EP which is available here

I recently caught up with Adam Wheatley who is the guitarist for TYF, who told me a little about the band, and what is currently going on

TTECSo, you are in one of Liverpool's "must see" bands. How does it feel ?

Adam

Wow haha, how nice of you to say! :P This band has always been about having fun and we've always hoped that has been apparant at our shows. There are a lot of great acts to see in Liverpool and I'm over the moon to think we're on that list.

And in the relatively short time you have been around, you have accomplished so much, for instance headlining the o2 academy for your EP launch, which is quite a feat for any band. How was the experience of playing a venue that you have only visited as a fan ?

Headlining the O2 academy was definitely a highlight this year. We worked really hard preparing and launching the EP and that to me was just the icing on the cake. The EP was welcome with a great reception and I was surprised to see just how many people knew the songs in such a relatively short period of time. Definitely a night we won't forget any time soon! And with this being your first major release, were you nervous at all about how the EP would be received?
Adam

Oh definitely, As a band it's always daunting releasing something new. We were very fortunate to have the pleasure of working with a great producer (Lee) at Regal House Studios who oversaw the entire production. When we left the studio we didn't take any rough mixes with us so the next couple of weeks waiting for the tracks back was nerve racking but when we had them it was obvious we'd done something right. They'll Never Take Us Alive was a great personal achievement for me this year and I know the lads feel that way as well. We just can't wait to do it all again next year

With regards to new stuff, what can we expect to see/hear ? Adam

Well since releasing the EP we have written a lot of new material which we have been demo-ing and playing with. It's pretty safe to say that we'll have a new release next year in some form . As for the near future, we are preparing a new single which we hope to have ready before the end of this year so keep an eye out for that! TTEC
And just to wrap it up, a question which i am sure is on many fans's mind, is just how do you get your hair THAT spikey ? Adam
